This describes what Hoard collects, why, and who it’s shared with, for the Hoard service at hoard.fm — see our Terms of Service for the terms governing your use of it.
1. Information we collect
From Google, when you sign in: your name, email address, and profile photo. Hoard doesn’t see or store your Google password.
Information you add yourself: a display name, an uploaded avatar (if you replace your Google photo), an optional location (a city/zip you type, or your device’s location if you tap “Use my location”), the albums you save or mark as wanted, follows, likes, comments, listings you create (price, condition, description, photos), and messages you send to other users.
Automatically: standard technical data our hosting and database providers log to run the service, like IP address and browser/device type.
Hoard doesn’t use any third-party analytics or ad-tracking.
2. Location, specifically
If you add a location, Hoard resolves it to a city-level position (via OpenStreetMap) so it can support distance-based browsing on the Community page. Only a city/region label (e.g. “Brooklyn, NY”) is ever shown to other users or made public — the underlying coordinates are used internally for distance math and are never exposed. Location is entirely optional and you can remove it from your profile at any time.
3. How we use your information
- To run your account and your collection.
- To personalize album recommendations on Discover.
- To power social features — showing your activity to people who follow you, and letting you follow, like, and comment on theirs.
- To run the marketplace — showing your listings to potential buyers and delivering the messages you send.
- To keep Hoard secure and prevent abuse.
4. Who your information is shared with
Other users. Your display name, avatar, and (if set) your city/region are visible to other Hoard users, as is your collection, your listings, and anything you post — comments, likes, follows. Direct and listing messages are visible to the people you’re messaging with.
Service providers we rely on to run Hoard:
- Google — for sign-in.
- Supabase — our database and file storage (avatars, listing photos).
- iTunes, Last.fm, and Deezer — to look up album/artist info; we send them the artist or album name you're viewing, not your account details.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — to resolve a location you enter into a city/region, if you use that feature.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of Hoard or its users.
If Hoard changes hands. If we register a formal business entity for Hoard, or transfer the operation of Hoard to one, your information would transfer as part of that.
We don’t sell your information.
5. Cookies
Hoard uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account (email hoardfm@gmail.com), we’ll delete your account data, other than what we’re required to keep for legal reasons.
7. Your choices
- Edit your display name, avatar, and location at any time from your profile.
- Remove your location, unfollow anyone, or delete a listing, comment, or item from your collection yourself, in the app.
- Email us to request a copy of your data, or to delete your account entirely.
8. Children's privacy
Hoard isn’t intended for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of storing or transmitting data online is 100% secure.
10. Where your data is processed
Hoard’s infrastructure is based in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
As Hoard develops, this policy may change. If we make a material change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
